The New York Mets all of a sudden have a plethora of arms and arguably the 4th man of those arms (Matt Harvey, Zack Wheeler, Noah Syndergaard) Jacob de Grom a Tommy John casualty earlier in his career walks away with the 2014 NL Rook of the Year.

de Grom beat out the Red Legs CF Billy "faster than light" Hamilton and Redbirds second baseman Kolten Wong.

"Word around the Warning Track" 2K14 Rook of the Year breakdown

2K14 NL R.O.Y.

#Amazins RHP JACOB de GROM 9-6 2.69 ERA 22 G 22 GS 144 SO 43 BB

2nd Place

#RedLegs CF BILLY HAMILTON .250 avg 56 thefts 25 2B 72 Runs 48 RBI

3rd Place

#Redbirds 2B KOLTEN WONG 113 G .249 avg 12 HR 42 RBI 52 Runs 20 thefts

de Grom rebuilt his repertoire after Tommy John and became a 4 pitch pitcher at anytime in the count. Now the Amazins' have a young arsenal of pitchers and as we go to press de Grom might be the odd man. If your a Mets backer that has to be disappointing as you see it's all about pitching in defense when going after that parade route with hitting being in the back drop.

Hamilton looked like he was somewhere on Planet Mars earlier in the 162 then he caught on. A true speed demon and if he can just learn to drive the Rawlings stitched-one to all fields lookout. He also needs to tighten up his base stealing getting speeding tickets 23 out of 79 times...and with his speed that is all technique. Get to Rickey Henderson or the great Tim Raines to learn how to become a better base stealer Mr. Hamilton!

The St. Louis Cards have them one here as Wong saved his best for Red October's push to the NL Pennant and the Fall Classic. He should be penciled in 2015 as the everyday second baseman as he will only get better and stronger with even better power numbers! Wong and the late Ocscar Taveres were 1 and 2 in that Card farm system with star potential oozing in all directions!
