I knew this was coming when the local schools couldn't grab him or passed him up. Former Chicago, Illinois Simeon H.S. Star and Class of 2k18 Top 100 (#66 in ESPN Top 100 2K18) Talen Horton-Tucker (pictured left) went off on the Illini on Tuesday Afternoon.

T.H.T. started slowly with only a money ball (three-pointer) as the game started and his only points in the first half as the Cyclones trailed the Fighting Illini 39-34. The Cyclones then came out like game busters in the second half and throttled Illinois with Horton-Tucker going game-high 26 points as he went for 23 of that in the 2nd frame. He also added 14 boards to go along with six helpers.

Illinois had no answer as their 2k18 top recruit from Chicago, Illinois Morgan Park H.S. Ayo  Dosunmu (ESPN Top 100 #39 Class 2k18) had 13 points for the Illini but that was not nearly enough. The Cyclones behind some "Hilton Magic" from Hilton Coliseum closed that second frame on a 50-29 run (Cyclones +21 second half) as they win 84-68.

The Cyclones doing that damage as they lost Monday to the Arizona Wildcats 71-66 is without arguably their best player in PG Lindell Wigginton as he is out injured and should be back soon. The game was decided in the second half in transition as Illinois was unable to slow down the Cyclones and the Illini's half court execution was horrific to say the least as they couldn't get anything going.

The Illini falls to 1-3 while the Cyclones move to 4-1 and should be a handful in Big 12 play and the NCAA Tournament looking ahead. Illinois has plenty of work to do moving forward before Big 10 play.

Horton-Tucker's Top 3 schools before he signed with the Cyclones was Xavier OH Musketeers, Illinois and the Cyclones...
