New York Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard (5-5) the last time out threw a solid game only to have the Pen implode. Well enough of that as he goes eight strong frames allowing just three hits as the Mets blank the San Diego Padres at Citi Field 4-0.

As though the Friars do not have enough to worry about off the field as the MLB Trade Deadline looms Ace RHP James Shields (8-4) gave up that fist frame bomb to Lucas Duda a two-run tater and that spelled an "L" for Shields. He would go seven giving up another run and charged with three on the night.

The Mets will not go away quietly and looking at the NL East Race with their starting pitching...they have a legitimate shot at this. With the "W" the Amazins' move to 52-48 and trails the NL East leading Nats by just a game. Yes the Nats just picked up Phightin' Phils longtime Captain Save-A-Game Jonathan Papelbon but we are headed for a photo finish in the NL East!

The biggest name out there on trade speculation for San Diego is LF Justin Upton who many speculate will land in Bird Land U.S.A. next to "Adam Bombs" Jones playing home games for the O's...stay tuned!
