The San Francisco Giants will be more than happy to get on that charter and away from the Inferno of Baseball Town USA. The Redbirds were closing in on a sweep of #OrangeOctober and Gigantes RHP Chad Gaudin goes six strong allowing just two runs on four hits as they beat the Redbirds 4-2 and salvage a win of the three game set. The Cards are 37-19 with the loss but they have company behind them with the Reds and Pirates also on the top of their game. Gigantes Back Stop Buster Posey goes 4 for 4 with a run scored. Pinch-Hitter Brandon Belt of the Gigantes gets the big rip with a two-run double in the top half of the seventh to break the tie. Cards LHP Tyler Lyons takes the loss as he gives up four runs on eight hits while striking out three. The Giants stay in 3rd place in the NL West behind the Rocks and D-Backs.

The Pittsburgh Pirates needed to go extras and considering they were facing a sweep at the hands of division rival Reds they would have swam the Three Rivers to get this one. The Buccos win 5-4 in eleven as Pirates Pinch-Hitter Travis Snider hits s seed to left field scoring Russell Martin with the game-winning run. Both Pens held up in this one as the chase for the NL Central will most likely go through the Redbirds. Pirates and Reds are now both tied for 2nd place in the Central at 35-22 which is 2 1/2 games back of the Redbirds.

The Atlanta Braves put up a crooked Six on the visiting Nats to move 6 1/2 games up in the NL East. Braves LHP Paul Maholm out dueled Nats Nathan Karns. The Braves Line Up chased Karnes after 4 2/3 with Maholm's going six strong allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four. The Braves are leading the East with their big hitters still struggling. B.J. Upton at .156 and Uggla at .157.   The Nats are trying to hang on as Bryce Harper will be out at least 15 days but expect longer.
