The Pirates came in just a 1.2 game back of the Reds and 3 1/2 off the pace in the NL Central set by the St. Louis Redbirds. They leave town feeling pretty good about themselves as they leave the same as they came in 1/2 game back of the Red Legs. If the Cards are going to win the NL Central it will not be because the Reds and Buccos were going after them. The best division in the Show hands down...well maybe the AL East has an argument.

The Buccos get a nice performance from RHP Brandon Crumpton who went five innings giving up a Solo Bomb to Reds OF Jay Bruce in the 4th. He also struck out three Reds and gave one free pas. The  Pirates Victory was all about Hot Corner Pedro Alvarez who went 3 for 5 with five ribbies , scored once, and took Reds Starter Homer Bailey deep into the seats in the 6th. Bailey went six innings for the Red Legs giving up six hits and two runs while sending eighth Pirates back to the Bating Cage thinking.

The Game came down to the Pens and the Buccos have an edge even with the Reds "Cuban Missile" LHP Aroldis Champman coming out the pen. The Buccos have an elite Save Man in Jason Grilli  as well. The Pirates end up winning 5-3 and leaving town still smack dab in the hunt.
