They hold the BACK END of the Defense up. They make plays on the line of scrimmage, behind the line of scrimmage, in the flat, on the sideline, in SPACE, and sometimes 50 plus yards down field. They are sometimes in Center Field in the Passing Game or an added Run Stopper. They come in all shapes in sizes.

All Busters have 5 seconds to HIT an EXIT...........introducing the 2011 Top NFL SAFETIES in the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE:

1a. Troy POLAMALU Men of TROY STEEL CITY: @tpolamalu on twitter You have seen the Head & Shoulders commercials and they are cool.....TROY smiling and everything. The COKE commercial with the little kid.......COOL....MEAN JOE obviously did it better. But on SUNDAYS have you ever seen #43 smiling........THINK NOT. About unorthodox as they come....there will never be another one like him. Not so much as a BALL HAWK but just makes PLAY after PLAY that has a huge impact on the GAME. The ability to sniff out what the Offense is running and sometimes he gets burned but that's where his PARTNER in CRIME comes in...@RealRClark25. Troy is now looking for a new contract as he has this year left on the Current one. And DIEGO paid E-WEDDLE as though he is the BEST SAFETY.....take it easy on us TROY and Troy's Agent.

1b. Ed REED the U Coral GABLES B-MORE CRAB CAKE Central: The DUDE was in the NFL's All-Time 100 PLAYERS......Enough SAID. The ORIGINAL Ball HAWK.......and QBs if you want to look him off he will probably be at the spot you are going to throw to anyway. LIKE Troy.......the Impact he has on a GAME probably won't be in NEWSPAPER but will be on SportsCenter or at BLUEDUDE SPORTSTALK. He played in 8 games last season....and had 10 PICKS.....now how is that. The RAVENS did lose his counterpart in Dawan LANDRY to the JAGS but ED is all they need back there.

3. Adrian WILSON STATE Raleigh-Durham the VALLEY AZ: Maybe the most-feared Safety on SUNDAYS. At 6-3 and nearly 230 EL BEES.......when you get hit you may think it was a DE or OLB.....NOPE...it was WILSON. Better at playing near the line can also be the back end where he dares you to come across him or his area. You KNOW...NFL WRs....have to recognize.....ZONE or MAN to MAN.....See DeSean JACKSON of the EAGLES. He still has a lot left in the TANK but his responsibility just went 10 fold as the CARDS have rookie Patrick PETERSON @punksnitch on Twitter and loss Dominique RODGERS-CROMARTIE in the Kevin KOLB Trade....NOT GOOD.

4. Eric BERRY Orange Checkered END ZONES UT KNOXVILLE new ARROWHEAD I-70: I went there. In only his 2nd season he is right up there with the 3 in front of him. BERRY will eventually be a RICH MAN someday......like he isn't already. I told people I thought he was the best PURE FOOTBALL Player in the 2010 NFL Draft....and the BLUEDUDE was right and doesn't miss evaluating talent. remember the best Defensive HS Player on the US from the STATE of Georgia. A natural Corner and didn't move to safety until the VOLS had the GREAT Monty KIFFIN calling the DEFENSE........SIMPLY a BURNER

5. Antrell ROLLE 'CANES 305 the NY Football GIANTS: Another guy who was drafted at CORNER and was an All-American at the spot at the U.......went to the DESERT for a few years.....now woth the G-MEN and there BACK END of the D is a lot better. Physical Safety who is also a BALL HAWK from his Corner Days. Very good instincts and closing on the scene. Will be a mainstay in the G-MEN's Back End for year to come. Cousin of former TITANS and RAVEN CORNER Samari ROLLE who played for the 'NOLES.

6. Nick COLLINS Bethune-Cookman WHO? Daytona Beach......you been there don't tell stories LOMBARDI Land: He is real good....ask Pack Defensive Coordinator Dom CAPERS and Do everything Corner Charles Woodson. A ball hawk and very physical at the point of attack. He has very good awareness and when you play in a CAPERES 3-4 or a LeBeau 3-4.....it's Trig or Calculus not general MATH. Even though COLLINS had one of the best Corner Duos......NFL QBs still know he is back there.

7. Brandon MERIWEATHER the 'CANES 305 FOXBORO Mass: Another defensive player out of the U......the Hit Factory for Defensive Players......well they used to be. Very good instincts and plays in the difficult to understand Bill BELICHEK PATS D. He has the those instincts you look for like making the bIG HIT or the key play like a PICK. The PATS have a really good young secondary that is only going to get better.

8. Ryan CLARK GEAUX Bayou BENGALS STEEL CITY: the most underrated on my list of SAFETIES. He gets overlooked because everyone is watching #43. He plays a Center field Flawlessly. He also allows TROY to be TROY. Now LeBEAU lets the two switch off which confuses the D because TROY is usually the one in the BOX or closest to the line. @RealRClark25 is as good as they get in Coverage and the STEELERS Defensive Coordinator and HOF Player Dick LeBEAU knows all too well how important #25 is.

9. Antione BETHEA home of 1914 Howard University LUCAS OIL the PIT STOP Naptown: When the COLTS were having Problems keeping Safety Bob Sanders of KINNICK Stadium FAME healthy.......they relied on 'TIONE and boy did he deliver. A really good run-stopper in the secondary. The COLTS with their pass rush is more concerned with how teams run the PIGSKIN on them. He is nothing flashy but just a good NFL SAFETY. Now SANDERS is in DIEGO it's Bethea's Job to keep the COLTS Back End in tact.......and from the looks of things....he will.

10a Earl THOMAS Hookem' HORNS the 12th Zone Puget Sound: Another no-brainer in the 2010 NFL Draft. It wasn't where this young man was going but who ever gets him he will be a perrenial ALL-Pro fixture at SAFETY. He maybe was the best player from start to finish on that HAWKS D. He is a little Eric BEERY and a sprinkle of Ed REED. Always knows where he is at on the field and a really good athlete. Watched him at the 2010 COMBINE presented by Work at HOME........so FLUID and Smooth.

10b. Michael GRIFFIN Hookem' HORNS DOWNTOWN Nashville : Has had 2 sup-par seasons by his own admission. But he sneaks in my TOP 10 based on what he is. A hitter.......a blanket in coverage.......and a BALL-HAWK. When the TITANS had the BEST Secondary in the LEAGUE a few Years ago....it was GRIFFIN that was the STUD back there even though they had 3 Pro-Bowlers back there.

The BEST of the REST...........

Eric WEDDLE BOLTS don't care about the MONEY he's here on my list
LaRon LANDRY 'SKINS one of my favorite too flawed in Pass Coverage
Malcolm JENKINS Who Dat? BALL HAWK...was a CORNER in College
Chris HARRIS Da BEARS Highly underrated
Roman HARPER WHO DAT? from the long line of Safeties at 'BAMA
Quintin MIKELL the LINC in the MOLD of B-DAWK a little
OJ ATOGWE 'SKINS Hard-Hitting but you are not a LB only
Jim LEONHARD J-E-T-S Underrated in the JETS SCHEME

The 2011 Top NFL SAFETIES......there are some young ones in th coming years that will be great....but for now......it's a TWO-HEADED Monster that resides in the AFC North.......TROY and ED......... PERIOD
