If you have been following BLUEDUDE SPORTSTALK for a while now......you know that I can sometimes go off into a ZONE like no other about sports. Well it's about time I tell you about the best High School Basketball in the LAND. There are a few choices but I settled with the Catholic High School Athletic Association of NEW YORK CITY.

Others cities getting recognition were CHI CITY, the MOTOR CITY, BIG D in Texas, H-TOWN in the Lone Star, SEATTLE, and the City Of ANGELS......Los ANGELES California.

Just recently let's say within the last 10 -15 years look at what the Cities that didn't get to #1 have put out:

CHi CITY: Derrick ROSE SIMEON HS, Evan TURNER Westchester ST. JOSEPH, Iman SHUMPERT Oak Park RIVER-FOREST, Julian WRIGHT Homewood-FLOSSMOOR, Shannon BROWN Proviso EAST, Dee BROWN Proviso EAST, Corey MAGGETTE Oak Park FENWICK, Dwayne WADE Oak LAWN RICHARDS, and Quentin RICHARDSON Whitney YOUNG.

Motor CITY: Ricky PAULDING RENAISSANCE, Joe CRAWFORD RENAISSANCE, Malik HAIRSTON RENAIISANCE, DeShawn SIMS PERSHING, Keith APPLINH PERSHING, and Amir WILLIAMS COUNTRY DAY

BIG D....DALLAS: Chris BOSH LINCOLN, Deron WILLIAMS the COLONY, Jason MAXIELL Carrollton NEWMAN SMITH, LeBRYAN NASH LINCOLN, Darell ARTHUR SOUTH OAK CLIFF, Bracey WRIGHT the COLONY, Daniel HORTON CEDAR HILL, LaMarcus ALDRIDGE SEAGOVILLE, and CJ LESLIE SKYLINE

H-TOWN.....HOUSTON: Daniel GIBSON JONES HS, TJ FORD WILLOWRIDGE, DeANDRE JORDAN CHRISTIAN LIFE CENTER, Daniel EWING WILLOWRIDGE

SEATTLE: Martell WEBSTER PREPARATORY HS, Nate ROBINSON RAINIER BEACH, Terrence WILLIAMS RANIER BEACH, Jamal CRAWFORD RANIER BEACH, Brandon ROY GARFIELD, Tony WROTEN JR GARFIELD, Joshua SMITH KENTWOOD

Los ANGELES: Brandon JENNINGS COMPTON/OAK HILL, Demar DeROZAN COMPTON, Russell WESTBROOK LEZUINGER, James HARDEN ARTESIA, Tyson CHANDLER COMPTON DOMINGUEZ, Jordan HAMILTON DOMIGUEZ/DORSEY, and Hassan ADAMS WESTCHESTER just name few in LA

The CHSAA of New York city is comprised of 8 Divisions and the players out of this storied conference is second to none. Grant it the BIG APPLE is #1 in the US of A in population doesn't mean that you are automatically #1 in my poll. But after careful consideration there is now way I could look anywhere else but the CHSAA.

The list comprises of players from the 1970's to the current and not all of these storied schools have had a great run in the Conference.

Players list by schools:

Archbishop Malloy Jamaica QUEENS: Kenny ANDERSON, Robert WERDANN, Brian WINTERS

Bishop Laughlin Brooklyn Mark JACKSON

Cardinal Hayes BRONX Jamal MASHBURN and Pittsburgh STEELERS WIllie COLON

Christ the KING Middle Village NY Lamar ODOM, Omar COOK, Khalid REEVES, Derek PHELPS, Jamal FAULKNER, Charles CLAXTON, Erick BARKLEY

LaSALLE Academy Queens NY Ron ARTEST

RICE Manhattan NY Kemba WALKER, Andre BARRETT, Felipe LOPEZ, Kenny SATTERFIELD, Edgar SOSA, Curtis KELLEY, Russell ROBINSON

St RAYMONDS Bronx Julius HODGE, Allen RAY, Kareem RIED

No longer in existence.........

St. NICHOLAS TOLENTINE Bronx NY Adrian AUTRY, Brian REESE, and the late Malik SEALY

That's just some of the more notable players players just to come out of the PRIVATE LEAGUE not to mention those out of the NY Public LEAGUE I haven't even mentioned at all.

NY CITY.......home of some of the best High School Basketball Players in the Land. And now you see why it is a BIG DEAL to do damage at RUCKER PARK....let alone Madison Square Garden aka MSG...the Mecca of the NBA.

NOTE: Two of the more notable NY CITY AAU Teams are the LONG ISLAND PANTHERS ODOM, ARTEST, and Elton BRAND all played their before their SENIOR YEARS
