the SUPER FREAK...NFL WR Randy MOSS calls it QUITS after a Brilliant and sometimes STRANGE Career...Will he be back?.....Who knows

Randy GENE MOSS from Rand, West Virginia and a STUDENT-ATHLETE.......well we will choose the LADDER....at DuPONT HS in Belle West Virginia was one of the GREATEST NFL Wide outs ever.

He and "WHITE CHOCOLATE" Jason WILLIAMS of the Sacramento KINGS among others, were teammates at DuPONT HS. Imagine the the ACTION on the Football Field and on the HARDWOOD watching them two in their Scholastic Days.......probably makes you want to go all the way home and come back thinking I won't see what I just saw if I leave and COMEBACK......Oh yes you will.

Meet the Man that has had a journey we would all like to take as far as a STUDENT-ATHLETE and a Professional Athlete. Some of the places MOSS went to and tried to play is baffling as it is interesting because QUESTIONS EVOLVE......RANDY.....What happened here?.....RANDY....and there?

Randy MOSS was highly recruited in High School and was a MAJOR in Basketball and Football.....but chose the GRIDIRON. He narrowed all of his choices down and it came down to Bobby BOWDEN and Lou HOLTZ. The Envelope came and MOSS chose Notre DAME but never could play there because of some legal issues.This is where the story is so interesting until there is no END...REALLY.

MOSS starts at FSU and his 1st Roommate was none other than the GREAT Peter WARRICK. Remember WARRICK.......the Cincinnati BENGALS 1st Round BUST....but a 2-time All-American at FSU and he wasn't even the best player in his DORM ROOM to boot.

From Day 1 at FSU players marveled at the TALENT of MOSS and Bobby BOWDEN even once said, " This guy maybe the best ATHLETE I have coached next to PRIME TIME. The 'NOLES would put MOSS on their scout team as he would TORCH continuously all 1st Teamers on Defense. And back then the 'NOLES put out Top Flight NFL Picks like APPLE puts out I-PHONES.....in bundles.

MOSS' Problems continued off the field as he never got a chance to play at FSU and COACH Bowden gave the young man chance after chance and MOSS couldn't help but go down that same road again and again. After serving a Suspension and some jail time FSU had to release MOSS and here we go again.

Moss then transferred back home to West Virginia to play for the MARSHALL Thundering HERD and then the LIGHTS came on.....OK the PARKING LIGHTS.....but DOG GONE IT...there lights. Imagine putting a GUY on a Division 1-AA Team (that's what MARSHALL was when MOSS 1st transferred in) and what would you expect..........BUTTA. MOSS ate all comers and the THUNDERING HERD won the 1-AA National CHAMPIONSHIP in 1996.

IN 1997 with future NY JET to be QB Chad PENNINGTON throwing to him with MARSHALL now in DIVSION 1-A....MOSS did the same thing......RIPPED everyone up again. That same season MOSS won the BILETNIKOFF Award as the nation's best WR and finished 4th in Heisman Balloting behind WINNER Charles WOODSON, Peyton MANNING, and Ryan LEAF......YEAH that LEAF.....BOLTS FANS know him all too well.

So in 1997 he entered the NFL Draft a DREAM that RANDY though at one time in his LIFE would never come true. He was high on every one's DRAFT Board but those off field issues were killing him on DRAFT DAY. There were about 5 teams in the TOP 20 that personally told MOSS if he was there they will pick him.....and none of them did.

MOSS thought for sure if I drop I want to play for my childhood favorite team.....the DALLAS COWBOYS....and what did gambling JERRY JONES do.....he passed on him. So as the VIKINGS and Dennis Green waited they thought they had no shot and low and behold look who fell to the VIKES and Red McCOMBS (the OWNER of the VIKES and SPURS at that TIME) at #21...Randy GENE MOSS.

The VIKES had the one guy that would keep the DEMONS off of RANDY and make him work......Chris CARTER #80....who has had the same problems MOSS had but found his on the Professional Level. Chris took MOSS under his wing and I remember watching a piece maybe on SPORTSCENTER with CARTER and MOSS training.

After the FINISH of the 1st Practice CARTER called Head Coach Denny GREEN and told him something like this, " COACH you wouldn't believe what this guy is doing in DRILLS....I have never seen nothing like him". Coach Green Carter said was like can't wait to see him in CAMP.

And before MOSS' 1st ever NFL GAME he told reporters around his locker in the TWIN CITIES.....I am going to RIP the LEAGUE UP.....starting with the COWBOYS and Jerry JONES. the 1st full NFL Season....RANDY was unstoppable.......it looked like MIKE at the GARDEN.....63.

RANDY continued his Hot Start in the TWIN Cities but never won an NFL Championship. SO the years passed in MINNESOTA until that day came when the VIKES parted ways with their SUPERSTAR in shipped him to the SILVER & BLACK.

AL DAVIS and RAIDERS got the MOSS that was on STRAIGHT BS....all the time. He didn't look like he wanted to be there in OAKLAND and they weren't winning either......that played a HUGE part in it. Then he got one more shot to shine on the BIGH STAGE,,,,the PATRIOTS and Bill BELICHEK came calling......GAME TIME.

The PATS with QB Tom BRADY throwing to RANDY MOSS.......it was not a pretty sight for opposing DEFENSES. The PATS went all the way to the SUPER BOWL UNDEFEATED and lost to the NY FOOTBALL GIANTS. But MOSS and BRADY hooked up that year for an NFL RECORD 23 passes in a SEASON breaking the record held by none other than Jerry RICE who has 22.

The PATS never made it back to the SUPER BOWL and MOSS had maybe his best RUN as a Professional in New England. Then the PATS in 2009 traded MOSS back home to the VIKES but by then RANDY was done. Hurt by the way the PATS and BELICHEK moved him out....LOOK it's a BUSINESS and that's how BELICHEK runs his.....ask Richard SEYMOUR...shocked when he was traded...to WHO? The RAIDERS so the PATS won't have to see them. RANDY then went lackluster in the Twin Cities and they put him on the waiver line and Jeff FISHER and the TITANS picked him up.

By then he was done.....he had no shot.......was uninterested in FOOTBALL at that point. Now RANDY has done it again......has called his retirement and some people think he is bluffing. AS of right now he is RETIRED and has no interest in returning.

And the STORY ends just like it started.......Hard to figure out Randy GENE MOSS. But I know this......you can take Football away from MOSS.....but you can't take what MOSS did for FOOTBALL . You just can't. Maybe and arguably the 2nd Best WIDE OUT in the GAME......at least no one caught the DEEP BALL like MOSS.
