Most of us know the Story of when current Steelers Safety Ryan Clark played in a Game in Denver, Colorado vs the Orange Crush he has developed complications from his Sickle Cell Trait after the Game. it was so bad Clark was hospitalized for nearly a Month and had his Spleen removed in the Process. Yes talking Football he won't play this Sunday in Denver vs Broncos on Sunday Night nor did he play in the pivotal Playoff Game Last Season. That's Only Football.

Now Clark has used his Experience and his Fame as One of the Top Pittsburgh Steelers to team up with UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers) to launch the New Ryan Clark's "CURE LEAGUE" to find a Cure for the Sickle Cell Trait.

Clark since the end of last Season has been on a Crusade with the Help of Pittsburgh-Area Doctors and Specialists of Sickle-Cell Anemia to go Full Board in letting the General Public and People who suffer from Sickle-Cell that they are not alone and the Fight is on and #25 of the Steelers is right behind it.

Under the UPMC Umbrella...Clark will be teamed up with the University of Pittsburgh's Vascular Medicine Institute headed by Director Mark Gladwin and the Institute of Transfusion Medicine in which Former Chicago Bears World Champion and Pitt Panther Alum Jim-Bo Covert is the CEO.

At High Risk for Sickle Cell are those of African, Hispanic, Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Descent. The Median Age of Death for Men is 42 and for Women is 48. Again Ryan Clark doesn't suffer from Sickle Cell Anemia but he carries the Trait. The Trait can be triggered in High Altitudes like it was when Clark played in Denver in 2007.
