The #1 Item on a Sunday Defenses List in every game is to Stop the Run period. That also means you are winning the Battle in the Trenches. If Teams are running all over you it opens up everything in the Offense like Gadgets and Play-Action among other things. Keeping Team from running also keeps them in 3rd and Long a Predictable Passing Down and Play.

The Teams out the Gate in 2012 that have established up front that you can Run but not on this Sunday have a Huge Step on the Other Sunday Teams. The Top 10 of 2012 won't Wow you but these Teams have bought in at least that Defensive Front on the Principles of Containing the Run on Sunday like:

1. Gap Control...stay in your Gaps

2. Beat your Man...Win if your not winning we are not winning

3. Hold Containment on the Outside...push everything towards the Middle of the Field..OLBs and DEs

4. Pursuit of the Pigskin and Tackle Well...closing in on the Pigskin

The 10 Run Defenses is sponsored by you don't have to have Stud D-Tackles, a Nose Tackles, or Backers but all 11 committed at One Thing on Sunday especially the Front Seven..Stopping the Run and being Disciplined about it.

The Top 10 RUN Defenses through Week 3 Yards per Game (Yds/G)

1. BUCS 47.3 Yds/G

2. HAWKS Nest 58.7 Yds/G

3. AQUA Boyz 305 64.7 Yds/G

4. BOLTS 67.3 Yds/G

5. TEXANS 67.7 Yds/G

6. Da BEARS 76 Yds/G

7. PATS 82 Yds/G

8. FORTY-NINERS 91 Yds/G

9. 'SKINS 92 Yds/G

10. GOTHAM City BLUE 94 Yds/G

Notable Others....

13. ORANGE Crush 98 Yds/G

15. STEELERS 101 Yds/G

18. #PURPLEbrowns 111.7 Yds/G

19. COWBOYS 113 Yds/G

24. DIRTY BIRDS 129.7 Yds/G

31. BUNGLES 155 Yds/G
32. #GeauxSAINTS 215 Yds/G.....#NeedGoodVooDoo Week #4

Surprising to see Bucs #1 but they are Super Aggressive at the Point of Attack and that comes from Sargeant Schiano.

The Aqua Boyz 305..the Phins are a Surprise but New Lead Man Philbin has a Tom Coughlin Type of Approach...Real Subtle but Detail-Oriented.

One would think the Ravens and Steelers would eventually get it together it is still early.

The Bengals and Saints, with one 2-1 and the other 0-3, those Rushing Numbers against have to change or the Losing Bug will enter the D and never leave.

Note: Numbers from ESPN.go.com/NFL/
