There is now way with the Buccos and Rangers smack dab in the middle of a Pennant Race that a Rookie out dueled Rangers Ace Yu Darvish. Well look again as Pirates Rookie RHP Garrit Cole goes seven and strikes out nine allowing no runs and three hits. The Rangers Darvish pitched Darvish-like going seven allowing one run on four hits and striking out six Pirate Hitters. Both Pens finished the deal but by then it was 1-0 Pirates as a a final.

The game-winning hit came in the 7th as Buccos Hot Corner and 2013 All-Star Pedro "El Toro" Alvarez hit a RBI-Double to give the Bucs and the game its only run. That hit scored Marlon Byrd as Byrd continues to come up big since joining the Buccos in late August.

The win allows the Pirates to move up a 1/2 game on the NL Central leading Redbirds as they were idle. In turn the Rangers move back two games behind the idle AL West leading Athletics as we are into the 2nd week of September-Pennant Fever Hardball...Yikes!

Buccos Nation...Raise the Jolly Roger!
