Pirates LHP Francisco Liriano did what he was suppose to do and that was to keep that Red Legs Offense at bay in which he did. Liriano went eight allowing just two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out seven as Red Legs Hot Corner Todd Frazier took him Yard in the 5th. Liriano left the game after eight to turn it over the the Buccos makeshift Pen and that's when the story turns.

With the score reading at PNC 5-2 Pirates the Bucs turn to Captain Save-A-Game Mark Melancon and the Red Legs pull the good wood out and run a Tab in the 9th. Three runs on three hits and that chased Melancon as the Red Legs tied the game at 5-5 and you have got to be kidding. Then in the top half of the 10th Joey Votto takes Buccos Reliever Kyle "use to be a Cubbie" Farnsworth for a game-winning Solo Shot to left field.

The Red Legs get six innings out of Mat Latos as he gave up four runs on eight hits as Neil Walker and Jose Tabata took Latos Yard for Solo Bombs. The Red Legs Pen allowed one more run and then for 3 2/3 innings shut the Pirates down. It's all about timely hitting and good pitching and the Buccos Pen since Jason Grilli has not got back to the Closing Role has suffered dearly.

Now the Red Legs move to that #1 slot in the NL Wild Card as the Buccos join them with identical records of 88-66 as the Redbirds lead by a 1.5 games over both. Saturday's Match Up is Bailey for the Red Legs versus Burnett for the Buccos.
