The Pittsburgh Pirates might need Kent Tekulve or Doug Drabek to end this recent slide as the San Diego Padres have come into the Big Bank Branch on Three Rivers...PNC Park and have taken the first three games.

The Buccos came into tonight's action vs the 'Dres just one game out of first in the NL Central behind the Redbirds of Baseball Town USA. The Buccos knew what was at stake an they still take game three on the chin. The 'Dres beat the Buccos for the third straight night by the score of 3-2. Buccos RHP Mark Melancon gets his lunch delivered to him in the 9th as the 'Dres hit him up for the game-tying and game-leading runs. All this after Buccos Star CF Andrew McCutchen goes Two-Run Bomb in the bottom half of the 7th to give 'Burgh Hardball a 2-1 lead. The 'Dres are definitely playing spoiler and the Buccos have some ten games to get it right.

Pirates Starter Charlie Morton pitched a gem of a ball game going eight allowing just one run on two hits as he walked three and struck out nine. 'Dres Starter Tyson Ross held his end of the bargain up by going seven and giving up just two runs on three hits and that dreaded HR in a "Cutch 22" Situation.

The Buccos now have to wait to see what the Red Legs and Redbirds do as they are in action as we go to press. The Buccos lose a 1/2 for now both ways until we get finals from those particular teams.
