The Trade stunned everyone but in the grand scheme of things the Colts and Browns both get a Win /Win Situation. The Browns are going nowhere and the Colts need to offset Luck in the Pocket as Play-Action with #12 in Blue would only enhance his Vertical Passing Game with a Real Running Game and Trent Richardson brings that if healthy.

The Trade...Colts get RB Trent Richardson from Browns for a 2014 1st Round Pick from the Colts.

Looking at it even closer....

The Colts 2013 Depth Chart at Running Back:

Ahmad Bradshaw (G-Men Cast-off)
Donald Brown 2009 1st Rounder from UConn (Bust)
Kerwynn Williams (2013 Undrafted FA from Utah State)

The Colts needed a running back if they are going to ditto 2012 or be even better. That wasn't anymore relevant than the last game vs the Aqua Boyz 305. The Phins went Nickel early and often and went straight Pass Rush disrespecting the Colts Run Game. I saw  and the Colts Brass saw it and Colts GM Ryan Grigson wasted no time knowing they would need one in the 2014 Draft in the first two rounds with no difference-maker really available.

Now from the Browns point of view there is not a QB on their current Depth Chart that is in their future so why not double up 1st round picks as they will have needs in a few places. The 2014 QB Draft Class is talented and yet interesting as well. Teddy Bridgewater, "Johnny Football" Manziel, Brett Hundley, and Marcus Mariota to name a few. The Browns will be in the running for a couple of these QBs as well as the Jadeveon Clowney Sweepstakes as the #1 Pick.

T-RICH Career Numbers as a BROWN

17 Gms 298 Totes 1,055 Yds 11 TD 3.5 yds/carry

That is 15 games from 2012 and two games from 2013 as T-Rich always faced eight man fronts at the least. With Luck and that Colts Passing Game you either loads up seven in the box and if you do eight you will get burned and its all a numbers game. It's as easy as Apple Pie.
