The Cincy Red Legs avoid what would have been a train wreck and a bad week in the Queen City on the Ohio as the Bengals also lost on Sunday to the Bears 24-21. That would have made Chicago Sports > Cincinnati Sports at least this week.

Red Legs Starter RHP Mike Leake answered the bell and was throwing lights out on the bump as the Cubs just could nor get to Leake. Leake went 5 2/3 innings allowing four hits issuing four free passes and striking out six as he allowed no a Cub to cross the dish. The Red Legs blanked the Cubbies 6-0 as the Red Legs leading 3-0 in the Sixth get a three-run Bomb from pinch-hitter Jack Hannahan  to close thew scoring at 6-0.

Cubs Starter Jeff Samardzija went 5 2/3 innings and gave up six run son eight hits while striking out five an walking three. He also allowed those two bombs as Red Legs Back Stop Devin Mesaraco took Samardzija for a Solo Bomb in the 4th frame.

With the "W" the Red Legs are 2.5 games behind the Redbirds and a full game behind the Buccos as the Buccos are trying to finish the sweep of the Rangers as we go to press. The Red Legs are still the #2 team in the NL Wild Card with the Buccos the #1 Wild Card Team.
