The Kansas City Royals made the trade for RHP James Shields before the start of the 2013 season and it wasn't a blockbuster deal but it was a solid move for the Royals. Now we fast forward some almost a full 162 after the trade and Shield sis holding more than what the Royals probably expected as they take two of three from the Tribe in C-Town to stay close in the AL Central and AL Wild Card.
Shields went eight strong allowing two runs on four hits as he gave out a free pass and struck out seven Indians on his way to win #11 vs nine defeats. The Royals beat the Tribe 6-2 behind the top of that Royals Line Up powered by lead-Off Hitter and CF Alex Gordon (1 for 4 w/ 2 Runs n Solo HR) who started doff the festivities with a Lead-Off HR to begin the game. Royals 2B Emilio Bonifacio went 3 for 5 and scored twice. They chased Tribe Starter Scott Kazmir after the fourth. Kaz gave up four runs on nine hits and struck out four.
The Royals are now 6.5 games behind the AL Central leading Tigers with the Tribe six behind. More importantly they are just 2.5 games out of the Wild Card as the Tribe is two out. The Race is still not over for the Tigers in the AL Central as the Tribe and Royals are trying to get to that Wild Card Slot or the Central Crown.
