The St. Louis Cardinals are at it again in the NL Central and on the senior circuit. They grab another "W" tonight sweeping the NL Central rival Cincinnati Red Stockings as the win gives St. Louis Hardball five wins in a row.

It was a duel on the bump as both starters went the eight frames as a Matt Carpenter Solo blast off Reds Stockings starter Mike Leake in the bottom half of the 1st gave the Cards a 1-0 lead. Then in the top half of the 3rd it was @DatDudeBP Red Stockings second baseman Brandon Phillips RBI single that tied the game up at 1-1.

Leake then gives up in the bottom half of the 8th a Kolten Wong sac-fly as the Redbirds moved ahead 2-1. The Redbirds then turn to Jordan Walden to play Captain Save-A-Game and he does just that closing out Cincy for a 2-1 Redbirds "W"!.

Leake takes the loss going eight allowing two runs on four hits as he struck out three and gave up that Solo Bomb to Carp in the 1st. "Waino" was equally as effective going eight giving up a run on seven hits walking two and striking out four.

The Redbirds move to 8-3 sitting two games above the 2nd place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Red Stockings fall to 4th at 5-7..."Get Away Day" only at Bluedude Sportstalk!
