After beating Top 5 Louisville a few weeks back and then losing to the UAB Blazers the UNC Tar Heels have been Jekyll & Hyde. Tonight taking on the #1 Michigan State Spartans Heels Nation had to be thinking we might get beat by a hundo or at least a half a hundo.

After coming out the gate on fire and taking it to the Spartans the Heels fell back into some of those Freshman/Sophomore kinda mistake that have plagued them in their losses. With a 32-32 Intermission   the Heels came out and then took it again to Sparty this time Sparty never regained consciousness. UNC closed on a 47-33 2nd half tear that saw the Heels Basketball Future on full display to a UNC 79-65 "W". UNC Sophomores PG Marcus Paige (13 pts 5 rebs 5 assts), C Brice Johnson (14 pts 6 rebs), and SF J.P. Tokoto (12 pts 10 rebs) led the Carolina Blue Charge with True Freshman Combo G Nate Britt (13 pts 6 rebs) and PF Kennedy Meeks (15 pts 7 rebs) adding to 'Heels pot. The Tar Heels had been relying on Paige to do too much as they had a balanced attack vs Sparty tonight and that is their recipe for success moving forward.

Sparty just couldn't get anything going as they played to the Tar Heels Game and not their own game. Offensive Rebounding was killing the Spartans as well as poor decision making from experienced guards like Keith Appling (13 pts) and Gary Harris (17 pts) among others. Big Adreian Payne dropped 16 points and eight boards as was the only force in the paint for the #1 Sparty. MSU only gets 17 off their bench but it was the Starters that came up empty.

For the Tar Heels they move to 5-2 and who knows when suspended P.J. Hairston and Leslie McDonald will be back for the 'Heels. James McAdoo played well but since his Freshman Season his play hasn't been what the 'Heels expected but it's only December of the 2013-14 season.

The Spartans take their 1st loss of 2013-14 season as this was the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. Look its early and the Spartans are my pick as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes to cruise through the Big 10 and expect Izzone and Company to be in the Final 4...and remember the Bluedude told you.
