Through numerous media outlets and reports the Seattle Mariners and ex-Yanks and reigning World Baseball Classic M.V.P. and Second Baseman Robinson Cano have agreed to a whopping 10-year $240 Million Deal as the M's tried to get back to the Lou Pinella Days of M's Hardball.
Cano joins the likes of Albert Pujols (Halos), Prince Fielder (Tigers), and Josh Hamilton (Halos) and even new Yanks CF Jacoby Ellsbury to get "Paid in Full" and long-term deals after they hit 30 years of age. For Cano and Ellsbury they better had hope that their production on the field doesn't mirror some of these players as the Halos find themselves cash-strapped for years to come and they didn't even come close to winning the AL West in 2013. Cano (pictured right) playing for his home country the Dominican Republic as he won the World Baseball Classic M.V.P. in 2013 and the Dominicans won the Gold.
For Can though he isn't the lone Star on the M's as they have Two #1 on the Bump in "Kid Felix" Hernandez and Japanese Import Hisashi Iwakuma. They are both legit and Stars on the Bump as that Line Up gets a huge boost from Cano and at least on paper the M's shouldn't be next to the last-place 'Stros residing in the AL West Basement in 2014.
The upside for Cano and the M's is that some of his best Hardball is still ahead of him. The downside is that where do his numbers start to decline in that 10-years deal as in year 6 he will be 37 years of age and at the end of the deal some 41-years of age. Very few players even produce in their late 30's let alone early 40's and that is a huge risk but the M's are living in the present.
As for the Yanks you can't blame them after being burned by A-Rod and even extending A-Rod not to give Cano all those Wells Fargo Trucks. Look the Yanks have learned their lesson kind a sorta but they did give CF Jacoby Ellsbury a huge deal but he is out of it at the age of 38 where by then he should hopefully be a semi-productive Corner Outfielder.
Roc Nation Sports and Jay-Z have struck again but it's bigger than them as Cano was going to get paid if it was them representing Cano or even the Bluedude.
