The St. Louis Cardinals have been back and forth for a awhile as now it appears they have found their 2nd wind to get them through September. Behind a Gem from Ace RHP Adam Wainright and some timely hitting the Redbirds blank the Pirates 5-0 and take over first in the NL Central.

Wainright goes seven allowing just two hits as he struck out eight Buccos Hitters and gave out two free passes. Buccos Star CF Andrew McCutchen had two of the three Pirate Hits on the night. The Redbirds in turn played small ball until a Solo Bomb from former World Series MVP and Cards Hot Corner David Freese in the 6th. Freese knocked in two and Cards Back Stop Yadier Molina scored two.

Pirates Starter Jeff Locke didn't pitch that bad as he gave up three runs in five innings but it was the four walks he issued that cost him. A good sign for the Buccos was working Captain Save-A-Game Jadson Grilli back into the mix after being on the D.L. some 6-7 weeks. The Buccos now are a 1/2 game out in the Central and on a three-game skid. The redbirds take over 1st as the Red Legs are just a 1.5 games out of first. The NL Central is a Monster....to say the least!
