Edwin Jackson hasn't had a banner year as he is eight up and some fifteen down but the Cubbies RHP did the job on the Bump and at the Dish tonight vs the Red Legs. Jackson goes seven on the Bump and allows just one run on nine hits while striking out four Reds Hitters. E-Dawg also had a Solo Shot and scored two runs for his own cause as the Red Legs look like the team playing on fumes.
Red Legs Starter Tony Cingrani left during the 2nd frame with back spasms after giving up two runs as the Red Legs Pen was atrocious on this night. In 7 1/3 innings the Red Pen gave up ten hits and seven ruins and two of those ten hits were bombs. The NL Central Race is a three-trick pony but if the Red Legs don't get on their Pony and pony up...2013 will be in the books in early October.
On the Cubs Hit Parade Hot Corner Donnie Murphy hits a two-run Bomb and nets Three RBI's. Cubbies Back Stop Wellington Castillo goes two-run and Solo HR as he accounts for three ribbies and two runs scored. The Red Legs with the loss fall behind the NL Central leading Redbirds by three games and the Buccos by two games.
