The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Basketball lead man Mike Brey is off to his best start ever in his 15-year tenure moving to 15-1 beating UNC in the Dean Smith Center on Monday night. The Irish blocked what would have been a game-winner from pre-season ACC Player of the Year UNC PG Marcus Paige as they doubled his money ball attempt in the corner with two "Bigs" and the shot was over the rim...Irish win 71-70.

The story for the 2014-15 Irish has been that four-headed monster at guard with SG Jerian Grant (the Irish best player 8 pts 8 asst) playing off the "Orange" with super-soph Demetrius Jackson (15 pts 4 asst) at the point with big guards Pat Connaughton (16 pts 9 rebs) and Steve Vasturia (5 pts 5 rebs) playing the wings. Yes the Irish play small but they have four perimeter players with a handle and can shoot it from deep and they force you to match up with them and that's Men's College Basketball at its best.

Those four accounted for  44 of Notre Dame's 71 points. The lone front court players Zach Auguste for the Irish led all scorers with 18 points grabbing six boards. Notre Dame was +18 points from the arc and that was the ball game.

The 'Heels still trying to figure things out following lead guard Marcus Paige (15 points, 6-17 FG) needs a dependable 2nd scorer and some more outside shooting. As for now that long-ranges hooter is Paige and the #1 scoring option is Paige and they can be easily defended until they get a true #2.

Notre Dame moves to 15-1 and 3-0 in ACC Play. The Tar Heels fall to 11-4 and 1-1 in ACC play...
