The Chicago Blackhawks wanted to start this trip on the right foot and the 2nd half as they had the defending Stanley Cup Champion L.A. Kings in their way on "Hump Day". The Hawks didn't disappoint but didn't get any points as the Monarchs struggling to find themselves before the break just needed to see the Indian Head to get things crackin' apparently!

It was not even two minutes into the game with half of Kings Nation still on the 405 when the "Bison City Mullet" #88 Patrick Kane "Lit the Lamp" for his 23rd goal on the season making it 1-0 Indian Head. The Monarchs came right back with the "Blackhawks Killer" Jeff Carter striking before the midway point to tie things up at 1-1. Three minute after that it was Hawks Patrick Sharp giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead at the end of the one.

That lead lasted just a little over a minute and a half into frame two when the Kings capitalize on a power play tying the game at 2-2 as "Granny there goes that man" Mr. Carter for his 2nd on the night. The Hawks couldn't get a A.P.B. on that #77 all night long!  That as the only goal in frame two leaving it tied at 2-2 heading into the 3rd.

The Indian Head again starting the period fast and furious scored on an Andrew Shawn goal giving the Indian Head a 3-2 lead. The way the game was going the Hawks needed an Insurance Goal and instead it was Kings Tyler Toffoli with just under seven minutes remaining tying the game up at 3-3. Then in crunch time with under four minutes remaining it was Jake Muzzin sending Monarchs Nation into a frenzy as he gets the game-winner from who else Anze Kopitar and the Hawks let one get away.

Hawks Corey Crawford stopped 23 of 27 SOG with Jonathan Quick stopping 26 of 29 Hawks SOG. Yes the Monarchs were more physical but the Hawks Game is skill and skating and beating you with team speed as the Monarchs just had the frozen one bounce their way.

The Hawks fall to 30-16-2 with 62 points while the Monarchs move to 21-15-12 and 54 points. I have this feeling with this game feeling like the "Fight for Lord Stanley" was on the line these two will be seeing each other in the near future....stay tuned!
