The Pittsburgh Steelers thought they had their guy in 1991 a year after going Offense in round 1 picking Liberty TE Eric Green. The Steelers chose Florida Gators OLB Huey Richardson who lasted just two seasons.

Richardson just wasn't fit for the Steelers Scheme as then Steelers Director of Player Personnel Dick Haley and lead man Chuck Noll chose Richardson thinking he would fit in with the likes of Backers Bryan Hinkle, Hardy Nickerson (Nike El Drago), David Little and Greg Lloyd. Only LDE Aaron Jones and future NFL HOF CB Rod Woodson were the only first rounders on that "D" in 1991.

As for the notable players in front of Huey and in back of Huey here is the list of the 1991 NFL Draft Top Players:

1st Cowboys Russell Maryland DT
2nd Browns Eric Turner DB
3rd Falcons Bruce Pickens DB
4th Broncos Mike Croel LB
5th Rams Todd Lyght DB
6th Cardinals Eric Swann DT
9th Chargers Stanley Richard DB

2nd Rd
31st Rams Roman Phifer LB
37th Cowboys Dixon Edwards LB

360 Degrees

Six of the first 15 players selected that year were on the defensive size of the pigskin with defensive players going the first six picks...

Many Steelers Observers say Huey Richardson maybe the worst Steelers first rounder ever...
