G2 of the Nats walked 7 Batters and Wainright of the Redbirds sent 10 Nats to the Bench via the Whifffff. Both didn't get past the 6th Inning then they turned it over to their Bullpens. A 2-Run Single by the Nats Tyler Moore in the Top Half of the 8th gave the Nats Game 1 and a 1-0 Series Lead on the Defending World Champs.

It was definitely October Baseball as both Teams had plenty of chances to get Runs in. The Nats left 10 Ducks on the Pond and had 8 Hits. The Cards in turn left 10 Ducks themselves on the Pond and had 7 Walks but could only muster 2 Runs when they could've put an erratic Gio Gonzalez down for the count. Teams just can't expect to put W's up when they don't take full advantage of Opportunities given by the Opposition.

Cards Hot Corner David Freese was one of two Redbirds that got hits and Freese had two of three hits. Nats SS Ian Desmond was the Nats Hitting Star as he went 3 for 4 and scored a Run. Nats OF Jayson Werth left 7 Ducks on the Pond and Redbirds 1B Allen Craig left 6 Redbirds on Bags. Players have to come through in those Situations. The Nats go up 1-0 with game 2 Monday Night in St. Louis.

The A's and Tigers Game ran smooth through 6 Innings in a 1-1 Game then the Flood Gates seem to open. The A's put up 1 in the 7th and Crooked 2 up in the 8th. While the Tigers matched them putting 2 up in the 7th and 1 up in the 8th for the game to come down to the Bottom Half of the 9th Inning. Little Used Tigers OF Don Kelly gets a Sac-Fly Walk-Off and the Tigers go up in the Series 2-0 as the A's will face elimination in the Next 3 Games if it goes that far. AL Triple Crown Winner Miguel Cabrera went 3 for 5  with a Run scored.

Remarkably enough with 9 runs scored and 20 Hits the Teams combined for 28 Runners Left on Bags with the A's leaving 17 of that 28. October Baseball is no time  for the Maple, Ash, or Bamboo to go Cold an for the Athletics it hasn't cooled off they just can't get the "Splash Play" when they need it.

A's Starter Milone went 6 Inning only giving up 1 Run. Tigers Starter Fister went 7 Innings and he gave up 2 Runs. With only a 5 Game Series the Tiger now have One more Game to win before advancing but they always say the Clincher is the toughest. Tigers and A's back in the Bay on Tuesday for Game 3.
