The St. Louis Cardinals Starting Pitching is the best in the NL Central and Top 5 in all of Pro Hardball. The Cards know this and the Brewers found out in Game 1 as they taste what they have been shoveling to their opponents as that 9-game win streak is snapped.

Behind Redbirds Pitcher Lance Lynn going seven strong and allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out eleven...the Cards cool off the Tap and the Brewers at Miller Park 4-0 taking game one of a three-piece. Lynn did issue three free passes but none of that came back to haunt him as the Redbirds played long ball on Brew Crew Starter Matt Garza.

Garza gave up a Solo Bomb to Jhonny Peralta in the 3rd inning to make it 1-0 Cards. Then with both Pitchers locked in and the Redbirds still leading 1-0 in the top half of the 6th Cards CF Jon Jay goes Three-Run Shot to push the lead to 4-0 and that would cap the scoring and the night for Garza (7 IP 9 H 4 R 4 ER 1 BB 6 SO 2 HR). He gets hurt on two pitches and sometimes that's all it takes.

Brewers 2013 All-Star SS Jean Segura had two of the three Brew Crew Hits as that Milwaukee Offense was stopped dead in its tracks by Lynn.

Cards move to 8-5 and the Brew Crew falls to 10-3...
