The Marquette Golden Eagles survived a stern test from the home team today the Musketeers of Xavier Ohio at the Cintas Center. A game that was all knotted up at 39-39 at the break turned into the X-Men's Game early in the second half.

Xavier led by as many as nine at 58-49 just above the 13 minute mark only for a game experienced Marquette Squad to hang close enough to strike late. Behind a game-high 31 points from Markus Howard, 21 points from Joey Hauser and older brother Sam Hauser (20 pts 9 rebs) the Golden Eagles took off late.

That trio for Marquette combined to shoot 13 for 22 from the arc as the Golden Eagles shot for a team 14 for 25 from deep. The Golden Eagles took the lead at 71-69 under the 4 minute mark as they went on a 22-11 run after being down 58-49.

Both Paul Scruggs (21 pts) and Tyrique Jones (21 pts 11 rebs) carried the X-Men along with Naji Marshall but it wasn't enough. Marquette was +18 from the Arc and played sound fundamental hoops with just 9 turnovers.

The Golden Eagles move to 18-3 overall and 7-1 in Big East play while the X-Men of Xaviers falls to 11-10 overall and just 3-5 in the Big East...Huge "W" and resume builder for #mubb!
