Miami, Florida is Home to the Dolphins, Fightin' Fish, the World Champion Heat, and the University of Miami FL. HURRICANES at Coral Gables, Florida.  They didn't make their name in the Early 80s with Buffalo Bills QB Great Jim Kelley or even Cleveland Browns QB Bernie Kosar. They made their name first on Defense as Architect Howard Schnellenberger laid down the Blueprint for the 'Canes to be as Dominant as their Rivals of North Florida in Gainesville and Tallahassee.

As the 'Canes started to Dominate the College Football Scene in thew Mid- Late 80s they started where most dominant Defenses start...in the middle. And in the Middle you found first was the Late Jerome Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown was the player who set the table for the other Two Players I will mention later to be the Next in Line at the "U" to Dominate upfront. A Combination Interior Lineman (who was a Mix of the Two Players coming up in Kennedy and Sapp) stronger than any Offensive Line with a technique that rivaled both a Defensive Tackle and Defensive End.  J.B. would Bull Rush you 1 Minute and go around you the Next like a Seasoned Pass Rushing End. If  I had to rate the Best Defensive Tackle in the NFL in the last 25 Years his name would be at the Top of the list.

Then there is Cortez Kennedy who came in almost right after J.B. left the "U" and he was much bigger but very agile and quick feet for a man of his size. He was the Run Stopper that Linebackers feasted on Runners and Signal Callers when they played behind Big Cortez.

Big C also dominated in the Seattle Kingdom where he played his whole Sunday Career at.The one player that I would compare Cortez Kennedy to Today would be the Big Razor Blade's (Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass) Vince "Hot Plate" Wilfork. And how good was Cortez....a 2012 CAnton, Ohio Inductee.

Last but not least is one of the more flamboyant Types at the "U" which is saying a lot. Warren Sapp good ole' #76 at the "U" and boy did he dominant, Faster than Both not as strong but used his Speed and Quickness and Top Notch Feet to go from QB, to the Gaps, to the Sidelines, and occasionally run down the Ball Carrier from the backside. A Hybrid Defensive Tackle from a Standpoint of that he could Run for a Big Dude. Kennedy and Brown were more of the Power Players and Sapp was strong but more of a Quick Player of the Snap of the Pigskin.

All three were All-Americans in Coral Gables, Florida, all three were Pro-Bowlers on Sunday and All-NFL at one point. Now Cortez gets into the Hall in 2012, Sapp is sure to get in at some Point, and the Late Great #99 of the Gang Gang Philly would have most certainly got into Canton if it wasn't for a Tragic and Freak Car Accident that claimed J.B. and his Nephews Life. Now who was the Best at the "U"?

I would have to go with Jerome Brown not only was he the First to start the Tradition at the "U" for Great Defensive Tackles but he was a Mix of both Cortez Kennedy and Warren Sapp.

The Top 3 Best Ever Defensive Lineman and Top 10 Players at the "U" of All-Time.....J.B., Cortez, and Warren.
