The Chicago Blackhawks on a two-game Great Midwest Trek through the Motor City and Twin Cities before coming back home needs all the points they can get moving towards the 2014 Sochi Winter Games in Russia. The Trek started tonight in Hockey Town USA and the Hawks had enough "O" but could not bring any "D".

After scoring twice in Period 1 behind Andrew Shaw and a blazing Marian Hossa (21st Goal) the Hawks led 2-0 midway through the first only to see the Wings tie it at 2-2 before ten end of Period 1. The Hawks then get a Patrick Sharp Goal (26th) early in the 2nd to take a 3-2 lead only to give up two more to the Wings and the Hawks trailed at the end of the 2nd frame 4-3. Marcus Kruger for the Hawks wristed one past Wings Net Minder Jonas Gustavsson to make it 4-4 as we headed to an Extra Frame.

Neither Teams scored in the 5 minute OT Period which led to a Shootout. The Shootout goes six frames as the Wings Darren Helm speed skates a Wrister right pass Hawks Net Minder Corey Crawford for the 5-4 SO Win. The Hawks had plenty of chances as they were up 2-1 in the shootout as Wings Todd Bertuzzi shot one past Craw-Dad to make it 2-2 and Citizen Kane 88 missed his opportunity.

Up next for the Hawks is the Wild in the Twin Cities on Thursday January 23 at 8pm ET on the 2nd leg of a back to back. The Hawks grab a point and move to 32-8-12 with 76 points. The Wings grab two points and move to 22-18-10 with 54 points.
