First and foremost it was all Team SHAMROCK and the SHOWTIME Lakers in the 80s with the BAD BOY PISTONS coming on late in the decade. JORDAN and the JORDANAIRES were going through growing pains MIKE was trying to outscore every team by himself. But it was all LARRY LEGENDS and the BIG 3 vs MAGIC and his squad....COOP, KAREEM, BIG JAMES, SUPERMAN Rambis, and BYRON.

Although those 2 Teams dominated the 80s NBA there was some fabulous DUO's trying to put their hands in the POT as well. The GAME in the 80s was just starting to see the game being played ABOVE the RIM but the best TEAMS were still the most fundamentally sound and well-coached.

Let's check out the NBA's BEST DUO's in the 80's sponsored by the ORIGINAL BIG Three in BEANTOWN and the SHOWTIME LAKERS from the GREAT WESTERN Forum of the Left COAST:

NOTE: the SCOOBY DOOS (shoe brand) they wore in the 80s in parenthesis

BIRD (Converse) and McHALE (NIKE) CELTICS Boston GARDEN and the PARQUET: The BIG Three did a lot of damage but the third wheel in this would easily be The CHIEF...Robert PARRISH from Centenary, as the HICK from FRENCH LICK and that GOPHER from the TWIN Cities were one of the TOP FRONT COURT Duo's in the 80s period. BIRD and McHALE were heavily responsible for the 1980-81, 1983-84, and the 1985-86 CHIPS that C's put up in BOSTON GARDEN.

DR. J (CONVERSE) and MOSES (Low-cut NIKE LEGEND) 76ers the SPECTRUM: One of the BLUEDUDE's TOP 3 FAVORITE Organizations of ALL-TIME and my #1 Favorite Player of ALL-TIME...the GOOD DOCTOR....Julius ERVING aka Dr. J. They should have WON the 1976-77 CHIP if it weren't for a series lapse vs the Big REDHEAD and the late great Mo LUCAS 20 of RIP City BLAZERS Fame in VETERANS Memorial COLISEUM. Not until arguably the BEST Offensive Rebounder the NBA has ever seen in Moses MALONE did the DOC come close but no CUBAN. MOSES and DOC teamed up to beat the SHOWTIME LAKERS in the 1982-83 Season to win the SIXERS 3rd CHIP and first since the WILT and Hal GREER led SIXERS in 1966-67 season.

PATRICK (ADIDAS) and ACTION Jackson (NIKE) KNICKS MSG: They built the TEAM around the HOYA PARANOIA Great and it paid off when they drafted St. JOHN's POINT Guard Mark ACTION JACKSON a native of the BIG GRANNY SMITH. The KNICKS never looked back after getting PATRICK to build around for around a decade and a half.

Alex ENGLISH (NIKE) and KIKI NUGGETS McNICHOLS Sports Arena: They ran Coach Doug MOE's Organized CHAOS Offense in McNICHOLS Sports Complex in DENVER. If you wee coming off of a BACK to BACK and they were the 2nd Leg in the BACK to BACK you were going to 1st...run out of OXYGEN and 2nd.....have to score at least 150 to possibly WIN the game. The Two slickest Forwards the NBA has ever seen not athletic by any stretch but GET BUCKETS would be and understatement for these two.

MONCRIEF (NIKE) and PRESSEY (NIKE) BUCKS the MECCA: The NELLY led 80s BUCKS playing in the MECCA and that Old-School RUBBER Court. Meet and greet the BEST Defensive Duo in the 80s in PIG SOOIE RAZORBACK SIDNEY M. and Tulsa GOLDEN HURRICANE PAUL P. They were as tough as nails and they were the RIVALS of the SIXERS and CELTICS in the EAST. They also had Ricky PIERCE, Jack SIKMA coming over from them great teams in SEATTLE, Terry CUMMINGS, and Brian WINTERS.

DREAM (ETONIC) and RALPH (PUMA) ROCKETS the SUMMIT: The Original TWIN TOWERS that resurrected the Houston ROCKETS and the new kid on the BLOCK gave the LAKERS, BLAZERS, and the CELTICS all they wanted. DREAM, who in the BLUEDUDE's Estimation, was at his Best Position when he teamed up with RALPH Sampson at the Power Forward. Ralph was supposed to be the next in line of GREAT NBA Centers but that never materialized for the Big Fella. Meanwhile DREAM became the BEST Power Forward/Center that has ever played the game.

Ro BLACKMAN (CONVERSE) and AGUIRRE (CONVERSE) MAVERICKS REUNION Arena: They were on the cusp of getting a chip a few times and never got past the SHOWTIME LAKERS. These Two players were the best Two players outside of DIRKIliscious I have ever seen in BIG D. They had Reunion rockin' and if it wasn't for AMERICA's Team the DALLAS COWBOYS they would have taken over BIG D. BLACKMAN on both ends dominated a Professional SNIPER and AGUIRRE Old-Man GAME WEST SIDE of CHI-CITY with a BACK to the BASKET Game like 'MELO except with the Big MAMA's BACK SIDE.

The HUMAN Highlight (BROOKS) and TREE (REEBOK) HAWKS the OMNI: The HAWKS were really getting it in under Coach Mike FRATELLO aka then CZAR of the TELESTRATOR, and behind SF Dominique WILKINS and Center TREE Rollins. They had some great years but like in the WEST they always seem to run into BIRDMAN and the CELTICS. 'NIQUE was fabulous to watch and right behind MIKE, LARRY, MAGIC, and DOC to see on the ROAD.

CHAMBERS (NIKE) and ELLIS (NIKE) SUPERSONICS the KINGDOME: I am leaving out their 3rd WHEEL, the X-MAN Xavier McDANIELS of Wichita STATE SHOCKER Fame, but the High-Flying Chambers Above the RIM acrobats and ELLIS' Smooth Stroke and Certified NBA SNIPER Status made the SUPERSONICS a bonafide Contender in the WEST in the LATE 80s. All 3 of them were ALL-STARS at one point.

PRICE (CONVERSE) and DAUGHERTY (CONVERSE) CAVS RICHFIELD Coliseum: They were a thorn in the BULLS all the way through the 80s an the PICK and ROLL or PICK and POP Price was the 80s Steve NASH and a little quicker. DAUGHERTY if it weren't for that CHRONIC BACK would have been a surefire NBA Hall Of Famer. Throw a 3rd Wheel in there in Larry NANCE and the CAVS were as LEGIT as HAMMER TIME there for a few seasons.

JORDAN (NIKE/Air Jordan) and OAK TREE (NIKE): Mike went through TEAMMATES after TEAMMATES but OAK TREE Oakley was the PLAYER that was with MIKE through all those battles leading up to the PISTON Battles. Mike went through a Broken Foot and Coach after Coach until the BULLS started turning the corner with Coach COLLINS and Coach Phil JACKSON as an assistant. Who would have thought that Coach JACKSON and AIR JORDAN SHOES and the PLAYER would be the talk of the 90s.

ZEKE (Converse) and JOE D (ADIDAS) PISTONS Pontiac SILVERDOME: They made the PISTONS and the MOTOR City a WORLD -CLASS DUO as the TEAM and the AUTOMAKERS were both at the TOP of the FOOD Chain. ZEKE one of the BEST POINT GODS ever and JOE D one of the best ON the BALL Defenders ever and a Top-Notch NBA Exec. The BAD BOY Pistons were led by these TWO as well as the LATE great Chuck DALEY and President Jack McCLOSKEY.

Mark EATON (CONVERSE) and Adrain DANTLEY JAZZ the SALT PALACE: EATON was the Defensive Force and A.D. was the a very unheralded and most unorthodox Scoring Small Forward you will ever see and did he get buckets. This DUO made way for the STOCKTON and MAILMAN Era to begin the late 80s.

Buck WILLIAMS and DREXLER BLAZERS: RIP City was back on the MAP with CLYDE the GYLDE and THOMPSON. They push the BLAZERS into respectability in the late 80s and they became a CHAMPIONSHIP Contender in the early 90s.

Others that could have played the third wheel in these duos...

Lafayette FAT LEVER NUGGETS
the X-MAN McDaniel SONICS
the CHIEF PARRISH CELTICS
the MICROWAVE V-JOHNSON/Laimbeer PISTONS
Mo CHEEKS SIXERS
Brad DAVIS/Derek HARPER MAVERICKS
Doc RIVERS HAWKS
Larry NANCE CAVS
Junior BRIDGEMAN BUCKS
Mychal THOMPSON BLAZERS

NOTE: If you notice that all these TEAMS and PLAYERS might have had CHAMPIONSHIPS if it weren't for LARRY's CELTICS or MAGIC's SHOWTIME LAKERS. The 90s were all the BULLS and JORDAN as he cost 5 Teams championships in the 90s the SONICS, LAKERS, JAZZ (2x), BLAZERS, and SUNS.
