ONE SHINING MOMENT and how about TEAMS that were more than just a ONE YEAR Tourney Run. The BLUEDUDE's Best Teams in the LAST 30 Years in the MEN'S NCAA 64 team single elimination tourney. The Votes are in and since the early 80s what SCHOOLS have made multiple runs with the same core groups is the question.

Some of the SCHOOLS on the list may surprise you and if you have been watching the NCAA Tourney really close them it will just bring back those fond memories. Like the say in the LOGO...THE PLAYOFFS is where you make your name...well in COLLEGE BASKETBALL is MARCH MADNESS hands down.

The BEST College Teams since the EARLY 80s to make ONE SHINING MOMENT a few MOMENTS sponsored by Follow the BLUEDUDE's BRACKET Breakdown and if you lose the MONEY POT don't blame me because you had chances to figure the 64 Team Field out yourself:

UCLA 1960s-70s
The MOST DOMINANT School in the History of the NCAA MEN'S Basketball Tourney was the 1960s-70s UCLA BRUINS led by the late great LEGEND of WESTWOOD John R. WOODEN with 10 Championships from 1963-75 with players such as Lew ALCINDOR later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar NYC's Power Memorial HS, BIG RED HEAD Bill WALTON San Diego HELIX HS, Gail GOODRICH, Walt HAZZARD, Sidney WICKS, Jamaal WILKES, Swin NATER, and Marques JOHNSON to name a few.

MARQUETTE 1973-78
Led by the late great AL McGUIRE the WARRIORS from MILWAUKEE Wisconsin were dominant in the mid to late 70s with an ELITE 8 in '76 and a National Championship in 1977 under TWO STAR Players in Butch LEE and Bo ELLIS. Current Boston CELTICS Coach Glenn DOC RIVERS also starred their in the early 80s and current HEAT SNIPER Dwayne WADE in the early 2000s.

INDIANA 1980-82
The GENERAL Robert Montgomery KNIGHT's Best HOOSIERS Team ever won the NCAA Championship in the 1981 behind the LIKES of WESTCHESTER IL St JOSEPH HS Star Isaiah THOMAS, with Solid Players like Glen GRUNWALD (Toronto RAPTORS Former GM), Randy WITTMAN (current Washington WIZARDS Coach), Ray TOLBERT, and Landon TURNER (who was later paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident).

GEORGETOWN 1982-1986
They dominated the BIG EAST under the watchful eye of the GREAT John THOMPSON. Won the NATIONAL Championship in 1984. They were led by every body's ALL-AMERICAN Patrick EWING Eric "SLEEPY" FLOYD, Reggie WILLIAMS, David WINGATE, Michael GRAHAM, Ralph DALTON, and Bill MARTIN. During the EWING Years they were called HOYA PARANOIA as they played their Games in the CAP CENTRE in LANDOVER MARYLAND.

UNLV 1990-1991
Arguably the BEST TOURNEY Team of ALL TIME in the UNLV Runnin' REBELS under legendary coach Jerry "TARK the SHARK" TARKANIAN. They had 3 1st Round picks off of that squad including NATIONAL PLAYER of the YEAR Larry "LJ" JOHNSON, Stacey "SPIDER-MAN" AUGMON, and Greg ANTHONY. They went the the BIG WEST like a HOT KNIFE through PARKAY and the most exciting TEAM the BLUEDUDE has ever watched in the NCAA's. Won the TOURNEY in 1990.

DUKE 1990-1992
Coach K would most likely say his most talented TEAM ever to grace the Campus in DURHAM North Carolina. Led by PF/C Christian LAETTNER and PG Bobby HURLEY Jr. the BLUE DEVILS were as dominant a team in the ACC ever. Throw in a Top Freshman in the 1991-92 Season in Grant HILL COACH K's Best Player ever at DUKE in my opinion...a slam dunk TOP 5 ALL-TIME. Back to Back NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 1991-1992.

FAB FIVE MICHIGAN 1991-1994
The most TALENTED Recruiting Class maybe ever in terms of their impact on COLLEGE BASKETBALL. The ONLY Team on this list that didn't WIN the National Championship but their starting 5 was Off the Charts in Jalen ROSE SOUTHWESTERN HS Detroit, Chris WEBBER COUNTRY DAY HS Birmingham Michigan, Juwan HOWARD Chicago VOCATIONAL HS, jimmy KING PLANO TX HS, and Ray JACKSON Austin TX LBJ HS. Though they never WON that CHIP the IMPACT of that Team is still in a lot of peoples eyes.

ARKANSAS 1994-95
Coached by Nolan RICHARDSON and won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in 1994 behind the likes of ALL-AMERICAN PF Corliss WILLIAMSON, and PG Cory BECK, and Sniper and SF Scotty THURMAN. the HOGS dominated as they were also National RUNNER-UP in 1995 and lost to the BRUINS of UCLA and the O'BANNON Brothers...Ed and Charles.

ARIZONA 1996-1998
Lute OLSON the legendary COACH who built the University of ARIZONA Tucson had maybe his best run ever in the mid to late 90s with the likes of Phoenix AZ SHADOW MOUNTAIN HS Mike BIBBY, Seattle GARFIELD's Jason the JET TERRY, Reggie GEARY, Miles SIMON of LA Power Santa ANA CA MATER DEI HS, and Seattle's Suburb FEDERAL WAY HS Michael DICKERSON. They dominated the PAC-10 and put the CATS as one of the ELITE National Programs and won the SCHOOL's ONLY National Championship in 1997.

UCONN 1996-2000
Jim CALHOUN's Post Ray ALLEN Squads were his best as he had a TOP 3 UCONN Player of ALL TIME in Richard RIP HAMILTON of Coatesville PA. This group won the 1999 National Championship by beating a Great DUKE Team led by 1999 NBA 1st Round PIck Elton BRAND of DUKE from Peekskill NY. The HUSKIES also had PG Khalid-EL-AMIN of the TWIN CITIES in Minnesota, Jake VOSKUHL, Kevin FREEMAN of PATERSON Catholic NJ, and Kevin OLLIE of LA CRENSHAW HS.

MARYLAND 2001-2003
Gary WILLIAMS best TERRAPINS Team ever was led by TRIO Steve BLAKE, Juan DIXON, and Lonny BAXTER. They were National Champions in 2002 after a 2001 Final Four Appearance. A school rich in the tradition of HOOPS this maybe their greatest team ever.

FLORIDA 2005-2007
Billy DONOVAN had a run in these 2 years that only maybe 1990-91 UNLV, 1991-92 Duke, and all those UCLA Teams to just dominate and the ONLY one was UNLV on this list not to REPEAT. Led by Al HORFORD, Joahkim NOAH, Taurean GREEN, and Corey BREWER the GATORS simply had a magical run and to their credit all stayed at least 3 Years to get it done. One of the BEST SEC Runs of AL-TIME if not the best. Back to Back NATIONAL CHAMPS in 2006-2007.

UNC 2005 -2009
Roy WILLIAMS left maybe a Top 5 Job in ALL of COLLEGE HOOPS to lead his Alma MATER from the 2003 Season. The 2005 National Champs were led by Sean MAY, Raymond FELTON, Rashad McCANTS, Jawad WILLIAMS, and Freshman at the Time Marvin WILLIAMS of Suburban SEATTLE Washington's BREMERTON HS.
Then Roy won another CHIP in 2009 behind Ty LAWSON, PSYCHO-T Tyler HANSBOROUGH, Danny GREEN, and Wayne ELLINGTON. the funny thing is ROY could never get over the HUMP in Lawrence but sometimes you have to circle the wagons all the way to where to started to get the ball rollin' and the FRANKLIN STREET MACHINE is in full effect.

Some of the BEST TEAMS ands PLAYERS the NCAA and the NCAA Tourney has ever seen with legendary Coaches and PLAYERS. Who will be cutting down the nest this MARCH MADNESS 2012 remains to be seen. The FAVORITES are of NATIONAL POWERHOUSES....North CAROLINA, SYRACUSE, and KENTUCKY...any questions.
