The Chicago Cubs need to start stringing victories together as the St. Louis Cardinals are off and running away again. Cubbies starter Jason Hammel provided a steady force on the "Bump" as the Cubs RHP went 6 2/3 frames allowing just five hits and a run as he struck out eleven with no free passes.

It was a crooked two the Cubbies put up in the 1st as that frame was highlighted by an Anthony Rizzo RBI-double giving the Cubbies a 1-0 lead. Jorge Soler then grounded out on a fielder' choice for Chicago's 2nd run.

Addison Russell then hit an RBI-single in the 4th only to see the Fightin' Fish get their only run of the game in the bottom half of the 4th on a Miguel Montero throwing error making it 3-1 Cubs. A Kris Bryant RBI-double in the 7th and a Starlin Castro solo blast in the 8th capped the Cubs scoring as they win 5-1.

Marlins starter Jose Urena takes the loss as he went six giving up three runs as he walked three and struck out four. Hammel moves to 4-2 as the Cubbies more importantly grabs a "W" and moves to 27-22. Little Havana Hardball falls to 20-32 good for 4th in the NL East...
