"Matheny Ball" strikes Chavez Ravine as Redbirds starter and close to being an Ace Michael Wacha was on his game just a start removed from his first "L" of the season. Wacha goes seven allowing seven hits and a run as he struck out five and walked no one.
That Redbirds line up with Matt Carpenter at the lead-off and Kolten Wong in the two-hole (or vice verse like in this tilt) might be the Shows best...really! They combined to go 3 for 7 at the dish with two RBI and scored three runs.
Dodgers starter Carlos Frias went 6 2/3 giving up ten hits and five runs as he walked three and struck out three. Wacha had a five run lead he carried into the bottom half of the 6th as Alex Guerrero his a sac-fly scoring Adrian Gonzalez making it 5-1 Redbirds. Baseball Town USA would strike back in the 8th on a Wong two-RBI two-bagger for the final score of 7-1.
Wacha moves to 8-1 while the Redbirds move to 36-18. Dodger Blue must figure something out falling to 31-23 and if they cannot beat their rivals talking the Gigantes and Cards what are they in 2015?
