Before we get into what the Washington Nationals did to get the 7-5 "W" over the North Siders let me take you to the Cubbies June 5, 2015 starter. Tsuyoshi Wada has to find a happy medium as he has been lit up the last few starts and tonight was no different.
Wada gives up five runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 frames. The big blow was a 2nd frame three-run smash by Danny Espinosa making it 3-0 Nats. Then in the the 4th Anthony Rizzo hits one of his two "Big Flies" on the night making it 3-1 Nats.
Washington in the bottom half of the same frame goes sac-fly and RBI single to push the lead to 5-1 after four. Rizzo again in the 6th goes "Big Fly" #2 and two-run smash scoring Dexter Fowler making it 5-3 Nats with Miguel Montero hitting a solo shot in the same frame as the Nats lead was just one at 5-4!
The Cubs Pen couldn't hold water on this night as they give up RBI doubles in the 7th and 8th as the Cubbies get one in the 9th as Nats Captain Save-A-Game Drew Storen closes the door 7-5 picking up his 18th save.
Tanner Roark gets the win for Washington going 5 2/3 frames giving up four runs and six hits. Nats move to 30-25 as the Cubbies fall to 28-25 as we get a matinee for Saturday starting at 11:05pm CT...
