Just what the Chavez Ravine Doctors ordered as the St. Louis Cardinals won the first two of a four-piece "Weekend Bender" in the City of Angels! In Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig return the Dodgers get a one-hitter from Ace Clayton Kershaw and LAD Captain Save-A-Game Kenley Jansen shuts the door in the 9th.
The game was scoreless through six as it had that October feel to it very tense as Dodger Nation knows all too well how "Matheny Ball" and the Redbirds have dominated LAD in the past two playoffs.
Redbirds starter Jaime Garcia was also on his game but got into some trouble in the bottom half of the 7th. With Chris Heisey on 2nd it was "Puig 66" doubling him home for the first run of the night and a Dodgers 1-0 lead. Justin Turner then singles home "Puig 66" for a 2-0 Dodgers lead and that lead would stand as Garcia would be done after the 7th. His line two runs on six hits as he struck out six and walked no one.
It was Kershaw throwing 106 pitches on the night and going eight for his 5th "W" against three L's in 2015. He allowed just one hit and walked two while mowing down eleven Redbirds Hitters. "Big" Kenley Jansen then went 1-2-3 in the 9th with his 3rd out a called strikes on Matt Holliday.
Dodgers now with a ESPN Sunday Night "Date Night" against the Cards have Zack Greinke going on Sunday versus Lance Lynn as they try and get the split with the Redbirds already winning on Thursday and Friday night.
