If you would have had me watch the game on one of them Zenith Chroma Color Floor Model T.V.'s and didn't tell me who was playing but the Royals and Cardinals I would have said this after the conclusion, " Whitey Herzog and "Whitey Ball" doing with they do on the old Busch Carpet (120 Degrees at night) with Lefty John Tudor on the "Bump" blanks the Royals and George Brett!
Now fast forward that to June 2015 and it was Mike Matheny and "Matheny Ball" doing what they do with no real HR Hitter in the line up on the new Busch Natural Grass with Lefty Jamie Garcia dealing as they blank K.C. 4-0.
Garcia was "Magnifico" as he goes eight strong scattering four hits as he struck out six with no free tours to first base. The Redbirds line up dba Baseball Town U.S.A. Manufacturing puts a crooked 2 up in the 2nd and 8th as those frames were powered by two triples and a single with a sac-fly.
Those two frames was just like "Whitey Ball" use to do it in the 80s with Vince Coleman and the "Oz" Ozzie Smith would get on and Tommy Herr, Terry Pendleton, and Willie "E.T." McGhee with a side of power-hitting Jack Clark and George Hendricks doing the rest.
Redbirds move to 40-21 as Royals starter Yordano Ventura goes just three frames allowing four hits and two runs. K.C. falls to 34-24 but something tells me we are headed for a I-70 Fall Classic and take that MLB Heads...I said it!
