The Tampa Bay Lightning was doing what they do for some 52 of 60 minutes in regulation as they led 1-0 after an early goal in frame one from Harvard Alum Alex Killorn. The problem was that Tampa Bay "Prevent" D they played in the 3rd to prevent the Indian Head from scoring back fired.

The Hawks get a late goal from Helsinki, Finland Native Teuvo Teravainen as both Duncan Keith and Andrew Shaw get assists tying the game at 1-1. This was after Ben Bishop was "Golden" in the blue-paint up to that point.

Just two minutes later with the Blackhawks in complete control and Tampa still playing on their heels it was Antoine Vermette "Lighting the Lamp" beating Bishop and giving the Indian Head a 2-1 lead they would not surrender.

The Bolts though came with a flury of SOG late as "Craw-Dad" in net was fabulous and just missed a shutout! Crawford stopped 22 of 23 SOG as Bishop halted 19 of 21 SOG. Both defenses played extremely well and the Lightning killed all three of the Hawks power plays as the Hawks returned the favor killing off the two power plays the Bolts had.

Now we get game 2 on Saturday June 6 at 7:15pm ET on NHL on NBC...
