The Cincinnati Reds are making their move as we speak on the NL Central leading Redbirds and Pirates. Reds Starter Mat Latos took the Stitched One from Skip Dusty Baker and made it do things that the Cubbies simply couldn't handle.

The Reds shutout the North Siders 2-0 as Latos went eight strong allowing six hits and striking out nine. Cubbies LHP Travis Wood also did his part as he was cruising with a shutout until the top of the 7th inning when Twitter's #1 MLB Head Red Legs Second Baseman Brandon Phillips @DatDudeBP took Wood's Offering right to the Bleacher Bums for a 2-Run Souvenir. Wood's Line was eight innings on four hits allowing two runs walking one and striking out five.  That was all that the Red Legs would need on this humid night in Chi City as they now make up some ground on both the Redbirds and Pirates as they kickoff their series on Tuesday Night.

Cubs Third Baseman Donnie Murphy was the only player in tonight's game that had a multi-hit game.  The Reds are as we go to press 4.5 games behind the Central leading Buccos and 1.5 games back of the NL Wild Card Leader the Redbirds of St. Louis.
