The Oakland Athletics needed this one as they were falling in a hole in the AL West and about to give up their lead in the AL Wild Card Race. Both Starters in the A's Jarrod Parker and the O's Chris Tillman went eight strong as they both gave up just one run. Parker went eight giving up that one run while allowing five hits walking three and striking out five as he gave up a Solo Shot to O's DH Ryan Flaherty. Tillman was in command as he struck out nine while walking just two and allowing three hits as he gave up his one run in the 6th frame with the O's up 1-0.

Now the A's are three back of the AL West leading Rangers and they are holding the #2 slot for the AL Wild Card as we go to press as the Rays and Red Sox are tied for the AL East lead.  the O;s are five back in the AL East but just two back of the A's for the Wild Card as the rubber match on Sunday is important for both.
