The Pittsburgh Pirates showed the mark of a veteran bunch as they comeback after losing a tough one in Extras Extra last night in the Lou. The Bucs LHP Francisco Liriano had his Minnesota Twins Boxers (TMI Bluedue) in this one as he thought Joe Mauer was back there catching him on this night. El Toro and "Cutch 22" took care of the Offense as they beat the Redbirds 5-1.
Liriano went a complete job as Buccos Backers watched from everywhere as he dominated that Cards loaded line up. Francisco gave up one run on four hits as he walked one and struck out six Redbirds. Pirate Hot Corner and 2013 All-Star Pedro "El Toro" Alvarez took Redbirds Starter Shelby Miller deep for a Solo Knock in the 2nd. Then Pirates first baseman Garrit Jones with one out after El Toro took Miller deep on another Solo Knock. The Buccos were on their game tonight as 2013 All-Star and MLB the Show '13 Cover Boy Andrew "Cutch 22" McCutchen went 2 for 4.
The Redbirds Miller lasted six innings and was charged with all five runs and two free passes with five strike outs and those two Solo Bombs. The Cards went a combined 4 for 29 and went two over the minimum at the dish and that my friends is not getting it done.
The Series will en on Thursday as the Pirates will have A.J. Burnett vs Redbirds 13 game-winner Lance Lynn and it should be a good one as it's "Get Away" Day after that one for both.
Redbirds Nation did you see Zoltan anywhere tonight?
