The New York Yankees reach back and show some "Valentine" and get Sunday's Game as it took extras to do it. Starter Nova for the Bombers and Cobb for the Rays held their end of the bargain up as they turned it over too the Pens as the Yanks strike in the top half of the 11th.
Behind a game-winning Sac Fly by Yanks CF Curtis Granderson and the "Fonz" Alfonso Soriano going circa 2000 the Yankees pull it out in the 11th by the score of 3-2. Soriano went 2 for 5 with a runs scored and a steal his first since 2000...Lol! The Rays Offense came from Star Hot Corner Evan Longoria who was 2 for 5 with two ribbies and his 28th Long Ball off of Nova in the 6th.
Back to the hill as Ivan Nova went 6 2/3 innings allowing six hits and two runs as it could have been worse as he also handed out six free passes. Alex Cobb of the Rays also matched Nova going 5 2/3 innings giving up two runs on seven hits as he walked three and struck out five. In his last appearance barring a run in the "Fight form October" Mo Rivera gets Save #38 and that one of a kind Sand Sculpture of himself from the Rays.
The Bombers are 6 1/2 out in the AL East but they are only 3 1/2 off the A's for that #2 Wild Card which appears at this point way more realistic for the Bombers to get. The Rays fall behind the Carmines as they have yet to play the Dodgers in their Rubber Match on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. Rays lead the Wild Card by 2 1/2 over the A's.
