It was newly-acquired Jake Peavy's first outing and Peavy was reportedly amped up to get on the bump in Fenway for the home team. The D-Backs were sending 2013 All-Star Patrick Corbin to the hill who started the 2013 season en fuego and since has hit a glacier or three. Both figured in the decision and guess who gets the "W"?

Behind a late surge from the Carmines Offense and a solid outing for his new team (7 IP 4 H 2 R 2 BB 7 SO 1 HR) Jake Peavy gets his 1st win as a member of the Boston Red Sox and that's what the Red Sox Faithful ordered heading into August and September Hardball. Corbin matched him going six innings allowing three runs on eight hits issuing two walks and striking out six. He dipped into trouble and that two-run 7th cost Corbin as maybe they should have pulled him.

Goldschmidt for the D-Backs went Solo Shot off Peavy early to get Arizona on the board. Victorino puts the Sox on the board in the 5th with a Solo Job. The Sox then get a 2-run blast from Saltalamacchia in the bottom of the 8th with the score 3-2 Carmines to close the scoring.

As we go to press the AL East Race continues to be heated as the Red Sox and Rays battle it out. In the NL West the D-Backs continue to slide and the Dodgers might be 20 games up by the end of August.
