Even C.C. Sabathia can't stop the Bronx Bombers currently slide and all of a sudden they Yanks have this Blur "Royal" Pain they can't seem to figure out. It was an old Nemesis that came back to bite the Bombers Tuesday in former Rays Starter James Shields. Shields was dominant as he went seven allowing one run on five hits and he struck out five on the Royals way to a 3-1 victory. Yankees Starter C.C. Sabathia is usually the Yanks Stopper when it comes to the bad streaks through a Complete Job only to get no run support. Sabathia allowed three runs (including two Solo Shots) on seven hits while striking out six. The Yanks are getting some help as the Rangers beat the O's again.
The Chicago White Sox probably won't be in the Pennant race 2013 but they jumped all over Tigers Starter Justin Verlander in the D. The Sox chase Verlander in seven innings of work as he allowed five runs (A Solo Shot and a 2-Run Bomb) as he struck out only three Sox Hitters. Pale Hose Left-Hander Jose Quintanna rose to the occasion going eight strong allowing three runs on six hits as he gave up a Solo Job and a 2-Run Shot. The Sox win going away 11-4 as Sox Center Fielder Alex Rios goes 6 for 6 and left fielder Dayan Viciedo goes 3 for 4 with four ribbies. Pale Hose amass some 23 hits in the game to the Tigers seven.
The Chicago Cubs are not just a sideshow to what's going on in Wrigleyville as they make a little charge in the Win Column heading to break. The Cubbies beat the Halos on the strength of four bombs and win 7-2. Halos Starter Joe Blanton gave up three of the four as the Cubs are just eight games under the .500 mark with the win. Cubbies All-Star LHP Travis Wood gets win #6 on the season going 6 2/3 allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five. Blanton moves his record for 2013 to a dismal 2-11.
