The Pittsburgh Pirates are getting their second wind just in time to get close to the Redbirds and start the send half on the right footing. Behind a Solo Shot from All-Star Buccos OF Andrew McCutchen and timely itching from the middle relief and the All-Star Closer Grilli (29th Save) the Buccos beat the Mets 4-2. "Cutch 22" was 2 for 4 with a Solo Bomb, two ribbies, and a run scored. The Buccos are now tied with the redbirds as they lose in Chi City for the 2nd time in three tries.

Speaking of Redbirds the Chicago Cubs have been feisty and entertaining as they beat the Cards 6-4 behind Cubs RHP Matt Garza and some Offense via the Big Fly. Garza went 6 2/3 allowing two runs on ten hits and he had some run support. The Cubbies put up six runs in the first four innings versus Cards 11 game-winner RHP Lance Lynn. Both Alfonso Soriano (Solo Blast) and Luis Valbuena (2-Run Blast) went deep for the Cubbies.  The Cards made a late run scoring single digits in the 7th through the 9th. The Redbirds now are locked up with the Pirates in the Central at the top. The Cubbies eight under bu have won six of their last ten.

The L.A. Dodgders Ace Kershaw took the "L" last night but it was Dodger Blue RHP Zach Greinke who was masterful tonight on the hill as he went complete job allowing two hits a free pas and struck out nine Rockies Hitters. The Dodgers and games lone run came in the bottom of the first as Yasiel Puig's replacement Skip Schumacher singled in scored in the lead-off slot. The Boys in Blue are just two games back and will go into All-Star Break behind the D-Backs. The rocks are five games back off the pace.
