The Atlanta Hawks took 19 games straight in the win column into the "Big Smoothie of NOLA" and the Pelicans "Protect the Nest"! It was New Orleans playing "Big" in the painted-area and that's how you beta the Hawks playing "Big" through your "Bigs" but you better have some good "Bigs" and enough talking "Bigs"!
The Pelicans also thew another wrinkle at the Hawks moving "Rekehavoc" Tyreke Evans to PG and he answered the bell with 15 points while waiting on a dozen tables. NOLA led 55-44 at the break and 88-74 after three. It was All-Star Anthony Davis (29 pts 13 rebs) and Omer Asik from Turkey (9 pts 17 rebs) killing the Hawks on the offensive glass to the tune of 52-32. Davis and Asik combined for 30 of the 52 as the Pelicans also manage to grab 17 offensive boards. NOLA SG Eric Gordon scored 20 points as they shoot over 50% from the field and over 80% from the stripe.
The Hawks rarely get beat with effort of at all and tonight wasn't their night. All-Star Jeff Teague led with 21 points and seven assists as All-Star Horford had just 8 points and nine boards plating against that long big front line of NOLA. All-Star Paul Milsap went for 15 points but ATL shoots just 45% from the field and 31% from deep.
NOLA moves to 26-22 and Phoenix Suns you have company. Hawks fall to 40-9 as that 72-10 Bulls 1995-96 Record is looking like the '72 Dolphins record.
