The New York Yankees were three outs away from sweeping the Baltimore Orioles as Yanks RHP Hiroki Kuorda dominated the O's in seven innings. Kuorda held the O's scoreless on three hits as he struck out four. The O's Starter Hammel pitched well enough to win as he allowed one run on six hits through five innings of work. The Game came down to Mo Rivera with 28 of 29 saves versus O's All-Star Center Fielder Adam Jones and Jones with a Duck on the Pond went Yard! Just like that the O's go onto to beat the Yanks 2-1 as Mo blows just his 2nd opportunity of 2013. Both teams will leave the series all knotted up in the 2nd slot in the AL East.
The St. Louis Cardinals are rolling and the finish a sweep of the Fish with a 3-2 win centered around Redbirds Starter Lance Lynn. Lynn wins his 11th of 2013 allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out seven Marlins. Cards All-Star Outfielder Carlos Beltran went 2 for 4 scoring the game-winning run. As we go to press the Redbirds are just 1/2 games back of the Buccos for 1st place in that rugged NL Central.
The Phightin' Phils keep at it as they salvage the game three after losing the first two to the Braves 7-3. For the 'Phils its all about All-Star Outfielder Domonic Brown as he lit up the scoreboard and the Yard for the Phils. Brown went 2 for 4 two runs scored and two runs knocked in including a Solo Bomb of Braves RHP Kris Medlen in the 5th. The Braves fall to 50-37 but still lead NL East by just four games as the Nats are four back and the 'Phils 7 1/2 back. Phils Starter Jonathan Pettibone gets the win as Braves RHP Medlen takes another "L" moving him to a surprising 6-8 in 2013.
