The Philadelphia Phillies are just 7 1/2 back as they beat the Nats Tonight 3-2. Phils LHP John Lanaan was masterful versus his old mates. Lanaan went eight innings scattering four hits striking out four Nats and issuing just two free passes. The 'Phils struck early in this one getting two in the first and the game-winner in the sixth. The Nats left too many Ducks on the Pond as Harper, Zimmerman, and Werth combined for five of the Nats total of six hits. J-Roll, Brown, and Ruf all had RBI's for the Phils as they trail the NL East leading Braves by 7 1/2 but the 2nd place Nats by just 2 1/2 games.

The Texas Rangers started their Motel Trip featuring the O's and Tigers with a bang. That bang came in the 6th inning when the Rangers erupted for six runs after trailing 3-2. The Rangers chased O's left-hander Scott Feldman after 5 1/3 innings giving up seven runs on nine hits. Ranger Second Baseman and Lead off man Ian Kinsler led the charge going 2 for 4 knocking in four ribbies. O's Star First Baseman Chris Davis struck out all four appearances at the dish. A's win so Rangers stay 1/2 back. The O's lose but they get help with the Yanks losing to the Royals and the Carmines losing in the 7th 9-2 to the M's as we go to press.

Cubbies RHP Matt Garza turned the clock back on the Pale Hose as he goes seven strong allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six Sox Hitters. The Cubs win 8-2 but not after a five-run eighth  inning that opened up a 2-2 tie. Garza moves to 5-1 and the Cubs are 38-48 as they try to inch closer to respectability in that rugged NL Central. The Pale Hose are dunzo for 2013 some 17 games under the .500 mark and fourteen games back as we go to press in the AL Central.
