The Reds couldn't have gotten a better start from RHP Mike Leake as they received in 3rd and final game of the Reds/Brewers three-piece. Leake went 8 1/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits and a solo shot as the red Legs beat the Brew Crew 6-2. Red All-Star Second Baseman Brandon Phillips knocked in three runs for the Reds. The Reds just trail the NL Central leading Redbirds by just 4 1/2 and the 2nd place Buccos by three full games.
The Fightin' Fish get four runs in their half of the 1st frame and that was more than enough Braves Starter Paul Maholm struggled in the first and went just 4 1/3 giving up those four big runs in the 1st frame. Fish Right-Hander Jacob Turner was on his game allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings. Marlins Placido Polanco knocked in three and Right Fielder Giancarlo Stanton knocked in two in the Marlins win. The Braves still lead the Nats by 5 1/2 and the Phils by seven as they both go head to head tonight as the Phightin' Phils go for the sweep.
