The Arizona Diamondbacks are leading the NL West but not by many as they need to string a few W' together to keep the Rocks, surging 'Dres and Dodgers along with the struggling Gigantes at bay. With nine game winner Patrick Corbin on the mound for the D-Backs the odds were in Arizona's Favor until....
With the New York Mets up 1-0 after Amazins' Back Stop Anthony Recker took Corbin deep for a Solo Bomb in the 5th ...the flood gates opened up on Corbin. The Mets chase Corbin and deny him #10 in 2013 with a crooked seven on the board ion the 7th as 7's run wild in Citi Field. The Mets go onto win 9-1 and the D-Backs lead in the West is down to 1 1/2 over the 2nd place Rocks who lost to the Dodgers also tonight.
Speaking of Dodger Blue no better time to start of a three game set out of the Motel with your Ace LHP on the Bump in Clayton Kershaw. some three hours after the 1st pitch in the "Big Keg"...Coors Field Kershaw had a Complete 4-hit Masterpiece highlighted by his 8 K's and Dodgers Players Puig and A-Gon going "Big Fly". The Boys in Blue win in a 8-0 shutout and where are all those Pundits that wanted "Donnie Baseball" to lose his Gig....I hear Crickets! Dodgers as we go to press just 2 1/2 games out of 1st in the NL West and Dodgers Lead Man on the TV Broadcast Vin Scully as smooth as he is has to be losing it in the Mile High.
The Phils' have to be thinking enough is enough of hearing about what the Pirates are doing and they take care of biz tonight at PNC beating the Bucco 3-1. The Phightin 'Phils used some seven pitchers as Starter Jonathan Pettibone goes 5 2/3 allowing three hits and one run while striking out six. The Pirates Bats were finally slowed down as No Pirates had a multi-hit game. Michael Young and Ryan Howard led the charge for the 'Phils each going 2 for 4 at the dish.
