This game with the elements had a few things going in the Michigan State Spartans direction. They had home field and was getting a Ohio State Football Team that was anything but sharp last week as it appears he Buckeyes are looking ahead towards that all important match up with the rival Michigan Wolverines.
First thing is first with two defenses in this one that is darn good in good elements this game was predicted to be low-scoring. That was the case heading into intermission with the "Bucks" leading 7-3. Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins was solid (24/39 277 yds TD) but couldn't get anything going for the majority of the 2nd half. "Sparty" QB Brian Lewerke (11/28 128 INT) did not perform well at all but it was that "Sparty" Offensive Scheme that was awful.
No running game for "Sparty"and then late in the second half it was the Buckeyes Punter Drue Chrisman that was the M.V.P. in this one. He pinned MSU kick after kick inside their own 6 yards line or worse for five straight kicks. That led to what looked to be a self-induced safety late in the 3rd.
The ensuing punt by the Buckeyes led to a mishandled snap at the MSU Goal line by the Spartans for a OSU TD and then the flood gates opened up. With the score 16-6 Buckeyes that led to 10 more points as that Buckeyes "D" took care of the rest for a convincing 26-6 "W".
OSU moves to 9-1 and more importantly 6-1 in the Big Ten. The Spartans fall to 6-4 and 4-3 in the conference and they still remain bowl eligible. Now the elephant in the room is can the Buckeyes make their season beating the "Maize and Blue" in the Shoe in two weeks?
They play for "Chips" in Columbus and we all know they also play to beat Michigan in everything...
Note: Buckeyes out gained the Spartans on the ground 120-54 and that was the difference in the game along with the Kicking Game...
Buckeyes RB Mike Weber 22 carries 104 yds TD
